27 Jul Why a Christian Education
Why a Christian Education?
It’s that time of year again. With July almost over, it’s time for students, parents, teachers, and administration to prepare for another school year. The dedicated people at South Hills Academy are already at work preparing to welcome our Eagles back to the nest!
Without a doubt, the previous school year had unprecedented challenges, and, while some areas are slowly getting back to normal, dealing with the changes that COVID-19 has brought upon our daily and even yearly routines is still an ongoing process. South Hills Academy is striving to be sensitive to those needs. Some parents are taking long and serious looks at what they want overall for their child’s education, including wondering about making the investment in a private school setting.
Having attended both public and private educational settings, I can say from first-hand experience that a private Christian education is a blessing for both the children and their families. There are a myriad of reasons for this that range from class sizes, quality of educators and curriculum, and overall campus atmosphere.
South Hills Academy class sizes are much smaller in comparison to most public schools’ counterparts. Where the average class size in a public school ranges from 30-40, SHA classroom average between 12-15 children per classroom. This small class size allows for a safe and nurturing environment where the teachers get to know their students as people and not just as student ID numbers.
South Hills Academy makes it a point to incorporate our school ESLO’s into our curriculum, with lessons that directly connect to the Christian faith that we strive for our students to value and cherish.
From the classroom bulletin boards, the dedicated maintenance crew, and the floor to ceiling artwork in classrooms, the environment at SHA is one of light and joy, letting students know that SHA is a clean and safe place where we value creativity and encourage the belief that learning should be fun.
As parents everywhere are making decisions about their child’s education, we here at South Hills Academy would love to talk with you about welcoming you to our school.
