Our High School Student Council here at South Hills Academy recently had an incredible opportunity to participate in Student Government Day in West Covina! Our students met the mayor and various city department heads, who shared insights into their roles in serving the community. They toured our City Hall and the West Covina Police Department, getting a firsthand look at how local government and law enforcement operate.

One of the most exciting parts of the day was a budget challenge, where students worked alongside city employees to allocate $2 million from the city budget. They were also treated to live demonstrations from the Fire Department and Public Works, showcasing the essential services that keep the city running. This experience gave our students a deeper appreciation for local government and public service!
