Black History Month Celebration 2025

Black History Month Celebration 2025

South Hills Academy celebrated Black History Month with an inspiring assembly centered around the theme "Bridging the Gap." Led by Mrs. Davis, the event highlighted the incredible contributions of Black dancers, trailblazers, inventors, scientists, and activists from both past and present. Students and parent volunteers took part in presenting the lives and achievements of these important figures, making history come alive through engaging stories and demonstrations. A special focus was placed on the lasting impact of Martin Luther King Jr. and his granddaughter, who continue to carry forward his powerful legacy of justice and equality.

One of the most exciting moments of the assembly was the vibrant performance of African drumming, led by Mrs. Davis and her family. The rhythmic beats filled the room, creating an immersive cultural experience that brought everyone together. Students also had the opportunity to learn traditional African dance moves. Our Black History Month celebration was not just about remembering history—it was about experiencing it, embracing diversity, and honoring the voices that continue to inspire change.
